I just got back from talking to the local motor shop that fouled up
the repair job on my motor.
I took it in for work and was told that the work was done. In
reality all they did was put a coating of paint over everything and
send it back to me. Sent it back, with the original problem intact.
Lucky for me that Jim Husted came through and saved the day. Just
because I was a small customer they decided to screw me over. I am
out 340 dollars. I know how many questions get asked of people with
electric cars. I will be very vocal about this shop. The BBB will be
contacted also.

This is not a good place to take a motor to.

This machine has been garaged for 17 years.
I am upgrading it and getting it running. Tabitha,
my daughter, named it, "Pikachu". It's yellow and black,
electric and contains Japanese parts, so I went with it.

I would go back to them and demand a refund of your
costs and include any extra it cost you to have Jim do
more than what he would have done without the overly
painted motor they returned. Let them know that it
usually takes 10 positive customers to counteract one
negative one. Maybe they will make it right.

No they will not. I am now a negative customer.

Be grateful that is all they did. When I took my XP-1263 into a
local shop they fed it 120+ volts and exploded it. They claimed they
never fed it more than 12 volts. Right, massive over speeding on 12
Volts. They refused to take any responsibility and shortly there
after went out of business. Jim Husted has that motor as a
back-burner project and I am running a standard 8" instead.

Did you pay for it on a credit card? You can always charge it back if they
didn't do the job right. Visa/Mastercard rules put the burden on the
shopowner to prove the work was done, and a letter from Jim will convince
them otherwise.
