My New lexus had to go to the dealer, the check engine lite came on. Dumb me, I didnt know it was timed with the speed-o and set automaticly at 60K Miles . They told me I had a OX sensor bad. I said OK change it, they said, "we cant. you need all 4 new" Sooooo at 187.95$ each. On my New lexus, under warranty, I got screwed again... NOW how many times can I charge my ElCamino to reach that cost level ... a lot. BTW My EV Camino dosnt have any OX sensors to go bad, or EFI, or exhaust, actually it dosnt have any of the crap a ICE does , seem that the cost factor keeps going down.
There are people that use solar power to charge their EVs, and people that use wind power to charge their EVs, how do I know this ?, cuz they were customers of mine ..cost factor is -0- now.
after they installed the wind/solar units they are driving FREE .

It dosnt matter what we say here, its all opinions, good ,bad, indifferent. It matters to the guy with his EV, its what HE thinks about it, So if Hes driving around at NO cost at all whos the winner??

You know, you could do that yourself since its not under warranty. Why didn't
you?

Lexus Oxygen Sensor at Auto Parts Warehouse
Buy Lexus Oxygen Sensors for as low as $28.05

So 1 is bad but they charge you for labor and mega marked up parts to
replace all 4? I think you need to be a bit more proactive with your dealer.
If they can replace 4 they can replace 1. Hook up a meter to determine the
bad one and replace it.

Two sensors before the cat and two after.

Most O2 sensors I have ever seen on any vehicle was two. Most only have one.
Purchasing a vehicle that forces you to go to the dealer is really bad. I'd
say you're correct that you got screwed. Sorry to hear that news.

Wayne, you are in a dieing industry. Your customers aren't 'tied' to
you. You have a bad business model! You need to rethink the way you're
doing things and insure that once you've built an EV for them, that they
are REQUIRED to come back to you for service. That's the only way to
make money, man! Put some oxy sensors on those warp-9's, they could use it!

60k miles? O2 sensors should be covered by the emissions warranty. If not,
contact the local service rep, request a policy adjustment.

All this stuff put on an ICE and the exhaust still stinks.

I would agree with your clarification.

But I think that many people *do* blindly accept what the car dealer
tells them. Dealers know this, and so often inflate the bills with parts
that don't need to be replaced, at prices that are far out of line for
what it really costs them.

Exactly. But, a little knowledge goes a long way! When the dealer says
you need a new whatchacallit, and it will cost $1000 to replace:

- How do you know it's really bad?
- What does the part really cost?
- How hard is it to replace?
- Is it covered by warranty?

If you don't have *independent* answers to these questions besides what
the dealer tells you, you're all set up to become "sheeple".
