*** DO NOT reply or post with what Insurance company you use ***
(it won't be used and it wastes evdl bandwidth)

What Insurance Company EV Drivers use is important information to know. =

Whether the Insurance Company is EV Friendly and or which one EV Drivers
prefer. Unlike EValbum, I am interested in =

-- Highway-Speed (65+ MPH) EVs only --
These EVs need the most help.

With some advice, I created a simple survey web page to gather anonymous
data that will be tabulated and offered for evdl.org faq page use. =

This free survey service limits the entries per site so I will be =

creating several of them to gather enough anonymous data (if one gets =

full, the next one on the list can be used).

*** DO NOT reply or post with what Insurance company you use ***
(it won't be used and it wastes evdl bandwidth)

The survey asks what: Insurance Company, EV Driver Location, EV type, =

EV details, and allows for comments. The EV details field is to weed-out
and discourage bogus entries that would skew the data. Since the evdl is
International, I tried to include all countries, all EV types, etc.

I ask that EV drivers 'review' the first survey site, and send their
corrections/suggestions/comments to: brucedp at rocketmail com

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MSCHXGP

This post is a preview or first-pass announcement. In a couple days, =

after I have incorporated the feedback, I will post on this thread the =

other sites and ask EV drivers to begin using the survey.

[Update]

First, thanks to all of those that saved evdl bandwidth and sent their
feedback directly to me to improve the survey process.

A couple people made the mistake of using the preview survey
before it was ready, but I was able to save their data.

Changes: I incorporated the feedback, added Insurance companies,
changed the insurance company labels to be their URLS as this not only
confirms which insurance company but also helps others to zoom in on
how to select them. Today, with everyone I see with a web-enabled
handheld device, knowing an insurance company's URL would be
helpful.

The feedback led me to split the all-in-one survey into three because
of insurance company's prejudices (they do not treat all EVs the same).

*** I am ready for highway speed EV drivers to start using one of the
three EV Insurance Surveys:

Conversion-EVs use http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MSCHXGP
(a fuel vehicle converted to electric drive either by an individual or
a conversion business)

Production pre-2010 EVs use: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XT9LKNV
(RAV4 EV, Ranger EV, Chevy S-10 EV, TEVan, Corbin/Myers,
Solectria/Azure, USE, ACP, etc.)

Production EVs 2010 or after use: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XGMWM82
(Leaf, Smart, Coda, i-MiEV, Smith, etc.)

If you are on a EV discussion forum/group/list other than evdl, please
let me know if you cross post the availability of these surveys, so I
won't have to spend time doing that. That will save me time to wear a
different EV-hat, helping the EV-cause in another way.

[Update & Follow-up]

I am still working on asking the various specific EV
forums/groups/lists to use an applicable Survey, currently the
'Production 2010 and After EV Survey' has only four entries: Two
Leaf EVs and two Tesla Roadster EVs. That amount is not a good
count to make a final analysis. However, I thought it would be
interesting to list the preliminary trends of what Insurance
companies this survey chose (also I am hoping as more people take
possession of their new Production EVs they will participate in the
'Production 2010 and After EV Survey':
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XGMWM82 ).

The Insurance companies they chose are equally split among four
Insurance companies (Companies listed alphabetically):

farmers.com 25.0% Leaf

geico.com 25.0% Tesla Roadster

statefarm.com 25.0% Leaf

usaa.com 25.0% Tesla Roadster

Whereas the 'Production pre-2010 EVs Survey' has a much higher number
of entries. Though 60% completion is still not a good count to make
final analysis, I thought it would be interesting to give the
preliminary trends of what Insurance companies this survey show since
Insurance companies are likely to be accepting of Production EVs
either new or old. Here is a list of their larger percentages
(Companies listed alphabetically - x# quantity):

aaa.com 9.1% RAV4 EV x4, USE S-10, Force

allstate.com 12.1% Sparrow x3, NMG, Force x2, USE Prizm

geico.com 3.0% Sparrow, Solectria Geo Metro

farmers.com 7.6% RAV4 EV, Ranger EV, Force x4

progressive.com 4.5% RAV4 EV, Ranger EV, NMG

safeco.com 3.0% RAV4 EV, TEVan

statefarm.com 27.3% RAV4 EV x4, Ranger EV x2, Sparrow x8, Force x3

usaa.com 10.6% RAV4 EV, Ranger EV, Force, Sparrow x3, NMG, Chevy S-10E

The 'Conversion EV Survey': http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MSCHXGP
is also not complete to do a final analysis. Interestingly this
survey shows a different preliminary trend. Here is a list of
their larger percentages (Companies listed alphabetically):

allstate.com 16.7%

amica.com 6.7%

farmers.com 13.3%

libertymutual.com 10.0%

progressive.com 10.0%

statefarm.com 16.7%

usaa.com 6.7%

My thanks to those that participated and those will-be participating
in a Survey.
