Hello everybody!
This is my first time posting to the list; I think I'm about to take the
plunge and get an EV, one way or another. Originally I intended to
convert something myself, but I saw an '84 S10 on the EV Trading Post
that may have just changed my mind. I've spoken with/emailed the owner,
and he sent me some pictures and answered my questions, and I'm almost
ready to do it. I've only got one concern left, and I thought I would
run it by the list and see if I could get a bit of advice:
The motor only has 7500 miles on it, and the owner says it runs great.
My only concern is some rust visible on the rear shaft in the picture he
sent. Here's the pic: http://www.fivepointchilidog.com/motor.jpg
He says he would expect it to come right off with scotch brite and that
it's nothing to worry about. What do you guys think? I'm sure the motor
is running fine as he says right now...but I'm concerned that if there's
rust like that on the shaft then the rest of the motor, which I can't
see in the picture, might be deteriorating. Do you guys think this motor
will still last a while? Is this an ordinary thing and I'm making a big
deal out of nothing? That's kind of my guess...just paranoid.
Any advice you might have would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Hunter
