Hi Roger,

I tried to find these Digikey parts but it looks like the search string was cut off. Searching myself didn't turn anything up. I'm getting ready to do control wiring on my conversion and have a P&B 12 VDC relay to use but would prefer something with proper contact rating voltage (even if the current is very low).

I'd appreciate any help with these numbers!

Frank

A popular relay for this application is the P&B KUEP series. The SPST

vresion is rated 10A @ 150VDC; DPST is 5A @ 150VDC. All of the KU

series are rated 0.5A @ 120VDC, but the KUEP is the best choice since it

has magnetic blowouts. It is a standard plug-in style relay. The only

12V coil version Digikey seems to have in stock is the DPST:

A little "higher-tech" (and less costly ;^) is to go to a reed relay,

such as this one from Digikey that is rated to switch 200VDC @ 0.5A and

to carry 1.0A:

Cheers,

Roger.

Don't know what happened to the links, but here are the Digikey part
numbers:

P&B KUEP11D15-12: PB840-ND (DPDT, 3A @ 150VDC, 12V coil: overkill for
KSI signal switching, but usable; recommend using the SPST KUEP3D15-12
equivalent part from EV Source for higher current (10A @ 150VDC)
switching applications)

Reed relay: 306-1024-ND (0.5A @ 200VDC, 12V coil: suitable for KSI
signal switching)

If you browse the Digikey catalog you will find other reed relays rated
to switch 300VDC (and one up to 7500VDC, I believe), but 200VDC should
be fine for the Curtis KSI since the Curtis only supports up to a 144V
pack.

If you are looking for a relay to control a heater element, the P&B
PRD-series relay is a good one to search for. I'm pretty sure Randy at
CEV will sell you one (he's also the place to go for the best quality
heater elements)

Hope this helps,

Roger.

For the PRD series I wound up going with the Potter & Brumfield PRD-11DH0-12. I've seen these anywhere from $10-$20 in various places.
Its rated for the task. For more than 120VDC you'd need to get the DPDT version (which is the part number above) and run serially though both sets of contacts. You'll wind up paying about $15 for a box/cover for this open frame relay.
