Thanks!

Would it be possible to DIY it using something like Shapelock?
http://shapelock.com/

Or possibly epoxy some beads onto a stick.

Hello Bob,

Just use a screw on ball joint that screws into a threaded tube or screws
over a threaded rod. I use these units in all my cars. You do not have to
go OUT THERE to get this item. I use all types of rod ends for all my cars.

You can get the ball joints from shops that sell bearings, pulleys, belts,
and machine shop stock, speed accessory shops, and some auto and hardware
stores.

Roland's idea seems wise and would be less cost than having just one piece
fabricated. You can also find small ball joints of various sizes in auto
salvage yards. They are often used to the attach gas struts on hatchbacks.
I've been able to buy them new at good hardware stores, and they probably
have them at auto parts stores too.

Maybe get someone with a makerbot to print it out? Supposedly the parts from them are quite tough. You might have to clean it up a bit afterward with some sandpaper.
I have a kit for one that I'm assembling in the next week or so. I could print it out for you if you give me the precise dimensions. It might be a while before I have the machine working well though.

If it's a plastic part that is prone to failure, why not replace it with a metal one that is less likely to fail?
