I am sure this has been asked before...but since I am new to the list and
there are so MANY messages to try to search through...please forgive me for
asking this:

Is there a best or just "better" year/model S-10 for converting? Sounds
like the long-bed is the winner for size and battery placement, although the
extended cab is better (IMO) for safety and interior confort.

I am weighing the benefits of getting a lower mileage S-10 and taking the
motor out and doing a CNG conversion and use it for home power backup versus
getting a higher mileage (or dead motor) model and save the money.

Any thoughts or suggestions for a 1st timer?

Thanks!

The newer model year S10's have more bell's and whistles that will
need to be managed or removed. The older trucks are more likely to
have no powered steering and less power using options such as AC.
The newer trucks will be in better condition as a rule, but more
expensive. There are trade offs either way. Dan

my opinion, put more money in up front and you will bee happier in the long
run, and probably have less total costs when your done and a nicer finished
project.
