I've noticed a alarming drop off in traffic on my website, on august
17 it dropped overnight from 100-200 visitors per day to 10-30
visitors per day and it has stayed there, bandwidth used also dropped
proportionally. I'm wondering if it's somehow blocked upstream.

So if I could get some list members to visit my site and report back
if they have any problems accessing it I would be most grateful.

Thank you

-Peter

Hi Peter,

Your webite was a little slow to come up. Maybe 15 to
20 seconds. But looked fine. In fact real nice.
Good job. Also a little slow going to the "next"
page.

Hope that helps.

Hi Peter,
Your website looked good and came up quickly. Nice job.

Did you hear if your upstream provider changed anything
that would cause the bandwidth to drop?
It can be as simple as putting a caching server online
that causes your pages not to be loaded every time
someone accesses them.

I also have the suspicion that a lot of Internet traffic is
"automated" traffic, web crawlers and serach engine bots
that cause a large part of the accesses to every page that
is reachable, unless you instruct the bots and spiders to
NOT load the page (and subsequent pages) so they do not
get indexed in the search engines.
The part that is (very) unwanted is where bots read all
your pages to "harvest" the email addresses in order to
make spam-lists. That is why Blogs by preference not
show the full email address on their pages or hide the
address in a picture.
It is possible that your upstream provider may have
done something to stop the unwanted traffic.

Ask them.

Hope this helps,
