I have design the GatorController, this is a water cooled system at : rotarypistonengine.com
There are many secrets about how speed controller are made and how they work.
Start with a basic 48v 50 to 100 amps, very simple to build.
When working with higher volts and amps, it gets more harder to keep from shorting out under load and back emf.
There are ways to do this but like?I said even my controllers i won't tell how i do it.
I have controllers build to meet your needs and more, unlike the over price Zilla my controller are low cost for the power needed.
I still say as an ev designer that? has a ev, there are better ways to run your electric car then to try to have a dc/ac motor powering your cars.
The energy is very high to get the hp out of your motor, this is why?I have redesign the power system for the next true ev!
Every hp needed takes 745.6 watts of power for your ev, the basic ev takes about 10 hp to go 50mph on flat roads that's very high loads on the battery systems.
Many people want to go with higher volts like 120 to 144 or better, but that will also add more weight and take more hp to go that speed.
Like Tom Sines Evette car, he started form a simple design and build his frame around? the batteries, it cuts down the weight about 50% compare to an average ev.
I will be testing his design this weekend with meters to see how well it does under load.
I am helping with his next Evette design.
