[EVDL] There are _many_ good EV suppliers too (was: problems Electro Automotive...)

All this is really sad to hear. They have supplied a lot of kits to a
lot of folks in the past. I think they started up about 20 years ago.
I wonder what has changed recently, since they were quite good in the past.

Again, it is really sad to hear that folks are not getting the parts
they have paid for. I feel very lucky that this has never been my
personal experience.

Let me list a few the EV parts suppliers that I have dealt with
personally over the years and had 100% satisfaction with:

This is only a _partial_ list of the many great folks I have dealt
with, but I wanted to let you know that the good guys far outnumber
the "problem" vendors for EV parts. I think it is important that you
all hear about the many many folks that have made the effort to
provide good customer service.

Bill has a good point. These people have been highly regarded by the EV
community for a long time, have written books and articles and provided good
products and support. Perhaps someone could determine the cause of their
current lapses in service before jumping in with lawsuits and derogatory
comments. They may have suffered some sort of disaster from which they are
trying to recover. Is anyone on the list close enough to them to run over
and see what is happening?

I hope to eventually meet the Electro Automotive folks since they are pioneers in the field. I live about 7 miles away from Felton and I tried to contact them when I was looking for a retailer but couldn't get ahold of them (back in May). Hopefully I can one day drive my EV bug down to them and say "hi".

Hi Corbin,

Come on, finish that conversion already! ;-}

BTW, you may be 7 miles from Felton as the crow flies
but I expect that you go there over HW17 or if you want
a scenic route, 35 then Bear Creek and 9.
Anyway this will add many miles to the distance, probably
double it, depending how far you are down Hutchinson Rd.

Note that ElectroAuto have a mailbox in Felton but their
address is somewhere else, almost twice as far from you.
I have never visited them or even asked their address,
just using internet you can find almost anything you want
even while at the other side of the planet as in my case.
Google maps streetview even allows me to peek into their
back yard and see the orange VW in the back together
with about 6 other cars.
Of course that is a picture from several years ago, as it
also still shows my Prius in the driveway of the house
that we left more than 2 years back.
It also cannot tell me the health of Mr Brown or Mrs Prange
or the situation that developed here.
Often enough there is a logical explanation.
The other day I was ready to report a non-shipping seller
on Ebay when I received a flurry of apologies that he had
been life-threatening ill for almost a week and his wife
did not know how to operate his Ebay account...

In ElectroAuto's case it may even be as simple as being hit
with the same thing that we see no EVs sell for decent
prices...

Let's all wait to hear the story from the other side before
drawing conclusions.
