Lawrence,
I found the EV version here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BYD_F6DM
and indeed the gas version (BYD F6) does not have a page that I can find.
The *good* thing of Wikipedia is also the reason that editing is open for a=
ll,
you can never really remove anything from a page that cannot be recovered =
with a few clicks by someone not agreeing to your editing.
There seems to be a genuine discussion about removal of pages,
so what could help is to get involved in that discussion if
you have good arguments or even just make sure that you save
the content of the original EV page and verify that all
relevant data is reproduced in the new merged page.
If not, you can simply add it in again, because anybody
can edit. If the page becomes too long as result then it
might get split up again, but then by generation instead
of by power train, so EV "conversion" and the original ICE =
version will consist in the same page which I think is
correct as they (should) share most of its engineering.
There are different cases, for example my EV
(US Electricar) was based on the 1994 GM S10 truck
(they also made a Geo Prizm sedan based version)
I would not expect to find the US Electricar merged with
the GM S10 even though it was a conversion based on it.
Just participate in creating EV content pages and you
will see that the base will increase and occasionally
mergers should not destroy the content - even if they
do you can re-insert it.

Hello All,
One of Wikipedia's greatest strengths is its open format. Anyone can edi=
t. Unfortunately, this strength can become a weakness in the hands of unscr=
upulous editors. I remember that my ex-wife, a publicist, used to try to=
"pitch" her clients on Wikipedia by posting praise of these clients in the=
re own Wikipedia articles and in other articles as well. Of course, she =
was well paid for her efforts by her clients.
I don't know if the anti-EV forces on Wikipedia are being paid, or if they =
are just people who don't like electric cars. Whatever their motivations=
might be, a small but determined group of Wikipedia editors is trying to e=
liminate nearly all articles on electric vehicles in Wikipedia. There mo=
st frequent tactic in doing this is to take an article on an EV and merge i=
t with another article. Once merged, they dismantle the section on the EV, =
saying that it makes the other article too long or that the subject matter =
is unimportant.
This tactic recently reached its most absurd point when editors suggested t=
hat the article on the BYD 56DM EV be merged with an article on the BYD 56 =
gas vehicle, EVEN THOUGH NO ARTICLE ON THE GAS VEHICLE EXISTS AS OF THIS PO=
INT!
We need to fight back to make sure EVs are represented in Wikipedia. If =
you've never edited Wikipedia, here is your chance to start. There are a=
number of discussions underway in which the editors mentioned above are tr=
ying to eliminate EV articles. We need to get as many people as we possi=
bly can to contribute to these discussions to make sure EV articles are not=
"Blacklisted" =
on the world's most frequently visited encyclopedia.
