Hi everyone! This is my first post here, and Im real....... ah..... GREEN
cuz I dont know much about this.
I have a 40' bus that Im converting into a motorhome (it runs on biodiesel). Im thinking about doing an ev conversion (or buying one already done) of a VW bus. My thoughts are that I could:
1) keep the VW a standard transmission so I have the option of towing it with all wheels on the ground
2) when driving down the road, charge the ev bus batteries from the alternator on the RV and additionally have the batteries in the ev run the house system on the RV
3) when parked at a campground, plug the ev bus into the outlet at the campground and/or unhook the vw bus and go for a short range low speed around town
4) when boondocking without hookups, the ev bus batteries would be hooked up to the rV to run the house system and the ev batteries could be charged by a generator and/or a few solar panels and/or a homemade portable wind turbine
5) I work less then 10 miles from home, I live in the flat land, I can also recharge at work
Im not really looking forward to doing another project and I live in California. I would preferre to buy it premade but I cant find what Im looking for so I may have to do it myself.
Although I am converting a bus to a motorhome, I am learning on it as I go..... so my skills are still minimal BUT Im willing to learn
Im looking for suggestions of anything and everything except the body type of vehicle for the conversion. I have my heart set on a VW bus
thank you!
