It sounds like one really needs to start incorporating pyro fuses into DIY builds. Then have a good way to fire off the pyros.

Many modern cars incorporate the pyro fuse with the airbag and seatbelt system. But that wouldn't necessarily apply to a conversion of a 50 year old car.

Most vehicles will have a manual cutoff switch/isolator, but they're not necessarily easy to get to.

This is really great info and I'm glad we can all help each other make our builds safer and elevate the hobby to safer levels. I'm learning stuff every day and there just isn't any way to learn all of these best practices on day one.

I would also suggest that folks don't use this as an excuse to not be kind to people that are looking for help on here though - telling people they are idiots or they aren't smart enough to do this is another way to kill a hobby for folks. I feel like some people that have this knowledge and experience can treat newcomers as though they are the reason this hobby will come to an end and it just becomes a justification for being an asshole to people. ("It's for their safety!" and "They are going to ruin it for the rest of us!")

Hopefully we can give users help on their builds and advice to make it safer without calling them idiots or being disputatious. Teach and spread knowledge... don't scold.
