The Fiat 500E is one of the best values for your money for an EV. These can be had for as little as $5000! Batteries for EV conversions could cost more than the price for this entire vehicle. Unfortunately, the 8 second 0-60 is pretty lethargic.

With that being said, what's needed for a swap from Fiat’s Bosch SMG to a Tesla front drive motor from a Model S or X? I’m think the following:
-Tesla Motor
-Custom Motor mounts
-Controller
-Custom axles
-Shifter
-Potentially thermal management

I'm experienced in working on ICE vehicles, and this seems fairly straightforward. However, this would be my first EV. I am more than okay with the short range, since this would be a second car and most trips with this would be for a few miles at a time, at most.

The Tesla drive unit would also need to be mounted in reverse, since it puts the motor behind the axle line and there is only space for it ahead of the axle line (like the original 500e drive unit).
