I am only 15 and looking to convert an El Camino or truck for my first vehicle. They aren't the best choices but I don't want to drive a small car. I don't want to go completely overboard in price but I know it won't be cheap. Also, I want it to have some power and speed. I just have several questions on how to go about doing this. (I know I won't get all those things I want in it.)

What motor should I use?
Direct Drive or Transmission mounted motor?
What Controller?
Charger?
Affordable yet efficient batteries.
Other tips would be well appreciated.

I am looking to convert a 1960's or 70's El Camino or an S10. They are about the same weight I think. I don't have to much knowledge in auto mechanics and fabrication. I can do small things like change brakes but that really doesn't count. I am a good learner and always ready to learn new things. I am hoping to get at least 60 miles per charge if possible and nothing real slow. Maybe a top speed of at least 80 mph. I don't want to go to crazy with cost wise but I know it won't be cheap.

I am converting an S10, and if you find a good one in decent condition with 5-speed transmission, there are quite a few options.

I am trying to get 40-50 miles of range with 100Ah battery packs (45) and making the truck as light as possible. Plus my top speed around my city will be 45mph. 55mph-65mph on the highways is fine. This will cost about $6000 or so.

Add in a warp-9 motor, a transmission adapter plate, holder, brake pump, power steering pump, and a controller, charger, wiring, and disconnects, and it will cost a fair amount of money. The cheap way to do it is to buy a conversion that is already done and swap in new batteries I found out.
