Hi my name is Gary! I am a Jesus loving, hot rod passionate 60 year old living the dream. Currently working on a 4X4 Ford conversion. Been thinking of converting a PT Cruisier to electric. Joined this group to learn. Want to use the front wheel drive transaxle. But convert to electric power. What does everyone think? Can it be done? I am from Hines Oregon:):):):):)

Hi
These days the best way to go electric is to get hold of a crashed EV and steal all of the good bits

Something like a Leaf would give a front wheel drive power unit you could drop in in place of your current one

The PROBLEM with using a Leaf is getting all of the electronics to work

You can put enough of the Leaf bits in so that it thinks it's still in a leaf
OR you can get a new "brain board"

Or you can go "old school" and get a forklift motor - That's what I'm using - cheap cheerful but very unsophisticated
