It would seem the patent is to cover the method of revitalising batteries either in or out of a vehicle as an interval service. It would be aimed at maintaining the existing maintenance service schedual to keep dealer technicians in work.
It would also keep the used batteries in the realm of the dealer/car company and possibly out of the used parts market.
However, the potential for energy supply companies to used bulk quantities of used batteries as a storage medium seems reasonable.
