It appears a major Headway reseller in the US has gone bankrupt. This has made me very leery of buying from another reseller.

What is the best way to purchase your batteries in the US.
I need ~160 40160s.

Hello Helluva.
In the US, the EV components was bankrupt, but now, we have 2 major reseller: Manzanita Micro & headway heardquarter. You can try to contract with them. And if you want , you also can purchase from us directly.

I just saw this message. I know it's been a while but thought to share it with you. I bought 40152S from one place here in California. There are pretty good in pricing too, for being in USA. Since Headay already have distributor in US, is that allowed factory directly sold battery to customer?

How to protect the distributor's profit?

The original post was from almost 2 years ago and the price was never revealed. The discounted price for http://www.protrionix.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=73 is $34.50 for the 15 Ah cell. Seems to be almost twice the going advertised rate of about $1.30/Ah or $0.36/Wh.

I could not find any other place here in the USA. Do u know any cheaper place ? What is that advertised price? Where do u get that ?

I used to suggest A123 batteries for High C-rate, but seems A123 got bankrupt now

They are not 40152 cells, but they have 20 Ah batteries for $25:

Others have found sources of similar batteries for less, but those are usually special deals with factory sources and not an advertised price from a US based company.

www.headway-headquarters.com is selling only the battery for for cheaper and you still need to buy the holder and connector (which is not listed on their website) which will add up to the same price that I got.
Also, the website www.headway-headquarters.com is not distributor, it is the actual company headway. They should not care if someone sells their product online.

I tried getting stuff directly from China, but it is a bit difficult !!! I prefer to deal here in the USA. Let my supplier deal with Chinese supplier

I still think that's a lot to pay, although maybe they offer quantity discounts, and you have to take into account the cost of shipping. Here is another source:

But AFAIK these batteries are for small devices and maybe electric scooters and bicycles, rather than electric cars. And you need some sort of battery holder that will maintain good contact pressure and not be subject to corrosion or loosening from shock and vibration. ISTM that the prismatic cells, with higher Ah rating for less cost, are better for a DIY car.
