Umm no. You need to send a bunch of CAN-messages to the pack to get the BMS to work properly. Documented here: Gen 2 AZE0 2018 SOC request - My Nissan Leaf Forum

Ofcourse you can simply close the contactors via the B24 adapter, but it would be a bad idea to not have the BMS running!

Exactly, with the BMS not operational it is very dangerous to use the pack. You need to send the CAN commands to wake it up!
