I stumbled across this forum while I was searching for info. You guys seem to have quite a lot of knowledge amongst you.

I'm thinking of converting a little 2 seater, either an MX5, MK1 or MK3 MR2 or an SLK. I'm pretty open minded on the donor so long as it's small and cheapish, but not too small for me to fit in (I'm 6ft and 100KG/220lb/nearly 16 stone)

I'm really just going to use it just for getting around town, but as town is mainly dual carriageways between roundabouts, I'd be wanting acceleration at least to match the donor and a top speed of over 70mph. At least a 60 mile range would be nice too so I could venture a bit further afield if the mood took me.

I'm in the UK so I'm not really sure what my real options are for anything at the moment.

I'm still in the heavy learning curve as to what's available here and finding out how much everything will cost.

For batteries I'm thinking 18650s, but other than that there's a huge amount of stuff to find out about, AC or DC, what motors are available, which are suitable, controllers, BMS etc. and that's without the logistics of how it will all fit in a small car. Although removing the engine and fuel tank should free up a decent amount of space.

It'd be great to see what other people have done first hand.
