I've done some searching and can't find a good central spot for this data, so I thought I'd ask.

How long did your EV conversion take? Please list the donor vehicle first.

I'm working on a plan for a state university that is looking to convert 4 pickups to all electric this coming semester. Since it's a formal project, not an "in my garage to be worked on in my spare time" deal, we need at least an idea of the time commitments. We have a full shop (lifts, welders, plasma cutters, testers, and a budget we can live with).

Go to EValbum and search the type of truck you want to convert. All of the info about the vehicle will be listed as well as the build length.

Other than that you'll have to look at websites that offer conversions and see what time frame they give.

I am near Harrisonburg. I have not converted any vehicles yet but I am still learning. Send me a PM if you think I could work with you guys. I would like to get some wrench-time in on a conversion while I save up for mine.

Thanks for the reply. I did actually check EV album quite a bit, but unfortunately most of the specs are in days, weeks, years, etc. A week could be 20 hours or it could be 60 hours, hard to tell. I'm really interest in the man hours involved.

I will definitely keep you in mind as the project comes to reality! I'm sure we could work out a way for you to join us!

I am doing a Honda Civic and I am coming in to about 6 months of actual converting, and a year total when I actually started to buy components.

If I had a shop, with lifts and protection from weather, my conversion would have taken 3 or 4 weeks, probably even less with help and all my components in my possession.

My car is an 84 Fiero. The previous owner did the build, once he had all of the parts, he was able to complete it in 6 weeks. But he was an aircraft builder, so fabrication came very easy to him.

I kept a log on my recent build. I have spent 147 shop hours over 9 weeks doing my conversion. This does NOT include work outside the shop for things like website, going to the hardware store/automotive store, etc. I need to spend about 2-3 more hours doing a few final things.. but as a total newbie, with not much mechanical or electrical experience, I've spent about four full time weeks doing the conversion. btw, this is working alone 95% of the time.

I've been keeping pretty close track of 'work hours', and broken it out by major task area on my website.... I've got about 60 in so far, and estimate another 30 or 40 to completion. I am doing all my own welding, layout, install, etc.... and its my first, so probably slower than the next.

car was a 91 geo storm fabricated 100% of the parts.
