Hub motor on sidecar wheel

I have a Honda GL1500 with a sidecar that doesn't have reverse. It is not possible to add reverse to the bike. I was thinking that I could put a hub motor on the sidecar wheel to use it for reverse. It would need to be slow and would not be used continually. Anybody have any ideas or experience with hub motors? Thanks in advance for any input or ideas. Rick
