You need units designed specifically for deep cycling. 2nd hand batteries are hardly worth the trouble.

The best battery value by far is Duracell (actually Deka/East Penn) FLA deep cycle golf cart batteries, 2x6V, around $200 per 200+AH @12V pair from BatteriesPlus or Sam's Club.

NAPA relabels it here: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NBP8144 Deka self-labeled also sold at Lowes.

Taking care of them properly you should get at least 3-4 years' use even if cycled daily.

Possibly 6-8 years, depends on how well coddled.

Its a conversion for cheap self sustained living. Looking for cheapest way to store about 20kW. Used is fine.
Would this be for an Ev conversion or energy storage. If energy storage this is probably not the right place to ask.
DIY powerwalls facebook, or Google Diy Powerwalls. secondlifestorage.com has many smart people in it.
Will you be building the battery bank from individual cells? 24v would be the minimum voltage IMO to use. 8s LiFePO4 16sis 51.2v nominal perfect for 48v inverters you would need aprox [email protected]=20.480kWh, [email protected] =20.480kWh

200Ah lead acid deep cycle =120Ah-160Ah usable storage capacity 1920 Wh per pair so 11 pairs :2200Ah only 60-80% [email protected]=21.120kWh I agree this would be the cheapest in the short term also weigh the most.
There are many Used Batteries out there some as low as $100 a kWh of capacity.
Later floyd
