I bought a leaf motor with invertor for a project.

I have since found out the inverter is damaged and faulty.

I am lead to believe that the inverter and motor are matched from the factory with regards to the rotor position . is this true ?

Can I get anther inverter and hook them up together.

If they need matching how is this possible ?

The motor in a Leaf is a permanent magnet type. As such, the inverter really needs to know where the motor is in rotation or it will not be able to spin it efficiently. That's the matching that is being talked about. I haven't had to do it but my understanding is that Nissan can input the rotor position to the inverter to match them together. This is done at the factory. I don't know how easy it is to do afterward. I'd think that the dealer can do it so it should be possible. If I remember correctly the Leaf service manual does talk about this. What year is it? I have the 2012 and 2013 manuals.

I read somewhere else that they are paired from factory, so not that easy just to buy a 2nd hand one.

Mine is a gen 2 2015 model, if I get Pauls drop in board does his software allow to make these changes ?
