They list two LiFePO4 styles of batteries. One of them is CALB-style, which the typically seen thick plastic outer shell. They also have an aluminum-enclosure style cell.

The aluminum cells appears to be much lighter weight and cheaper options, however, I must be missing something as most prismatic-cell EV conversion builds I have seen prefer the CALB-style cells.

The only rationale I can think of is that the CALB-style cells are safer since they have the compression built into the individual cells, whereas the aluminum enclosure would require appropriate compression from the fabricated battery box.

Can someone help me understand this?
