Lithium battery recycling.......any new experiences

I have 6 LG Chem cells that were from a conversion with water damage. I believe they are pacifica modules. the BMS connections are corroded and some have a swollen cell. The national recyclers want hundreds of dollars to take them. County Landfill doesnt recycle them gave me a list of county recyclers none of which would take batteries of this size. Called a couple major battery sales centers no help. Id really like them gone without paying hundreds of $. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It's a weird space indeed. I tried recycling Ford CMax cells with Batteries+ once, they took a few, but it took some convincing. Larger cells would certainly be difficult.
Home Depot.

They have battery recycling bins at the entrances. Flip the lid open, it's just a garbage can inside. Toss in one at a time.

Lithium batteries have positive value. People pay for them.

Do you have a Staples? Ditto, they have a big plastic tote on a pallet in the back by the washrooms I think.
Are they individual LG cells or 16s pacifica Modules which weigh 20 kg?
later floyd
They are 16s. I guess I made the assumption that at Home Depot they needed to fit into the lid opening haha.
Please save this post for in about 5 or 10 years. :D
The companies will hunt and beg for "old" Li-batteries, as they have to recycle them by law (at least in Europe from 2024 on).
And it will get cheaper to recycle them instead of getting all the elements from the ground.

Where are you located?
Which national recycler have you spoken to?
The batteries are sometimes positive value, but in small quantity, it might not be worth more than the shipping cost.
Here are a few recycling companies that could help.

Speaking of which, btw, you never replied to the email I sent you, was wondering if you changed your mind or if they got lost in a spam filter.
Send it again, I was wondering what happened.
some market vibes from my side working in EU:
To get to the end recycler is always a bit of work. usually, the first-level recyclers are just sorting the garbage. While if you somehow reach out to the actual pyrometallurgy or hydrometallurgy plant recycling facility, u might have a chance at just throwing the cells in their bins for free.

In EU currently, we pay x eur per kg to recycle at 1t or more, but we are getting signals from the US and Asian markets that are getting ready to pay us for good quantities.

it blew through my wood battery box

any ideas how to keep the rest from expanding g?
Thx
Ps u have any good ones?
I have reached out to Batt recyclers of America and Next Day as well as a couple of others, pretty expensive to get rid of 160 lbs of batteries using their "safety" containers. Some offered free pick up over 1000lbs however.

well, just leave the batteries at their doorstep and leave, is it more than 100 bucks for the recycling?
