Hello
Just wondering if anyone has experienced an HV battery shutdown on their ZS EV.
I noticed a Vehicle control error on my dashboard and about 1 minute later the HV battery shutdown happened. Not very safe on a fast road !

it's happened twice and I am no convinced by the story I am getting from MG and the dealership.

Are there any diagnostic trouble codes that can be accessed?

Is there a factory service manual that might have troubleshooting steps to take for the various DTCs?

What is the age and condition of your 12V battery? A weak, old or worn out 12V battery can cause a multitude of faults in an EV.

So the Car is a 21 plate so 2021 model.
The error code that the AA got when recovering me was a battery insulation error. don't have the actual code as all wiped. Once all wiped then the car drives ok.
There is a module in some EV packs that checks for shorts to chassis and can make guesstimates on insulation breakdown.
Insulation error in a vehicle under warranty is a dealer issue for sure. Basically the high voltage is supposed to 'float' and not be connected to the vehicle chassis. The cause could be insulation breakdown in the AC compressor, issue in the heater, moisture in the battery etc, any number of things. It means the isolation monitor is detecting that current can flow from the HV pack to the car body. Dealer issue.
If they wont speak to a specialist, Cleevely EV seem well rated and issue the invoice to the dealer.
Check out Dala's video on a similar issue but with a Leaf

The dealership thinks that the issue is some corrosion on the charging pins.
How likely do you think this is.?
I am not convinced and I am quite worried about the quality of the car and the service to be honest.
Even if it's that, it needs addressing. Loss of isolation is loss of isolation, regardless of cause. I'd be equally sceptical though, the DC charging pins are only connected to HV when rapid charging.

I'm not an expert with new cars, but can't you take it to a different dealer if your current one will not look at it, failing that, give Cleevely EV a call and see what they suggest?
i doubt that corrosion on the charging pins is the likely culprit to cause shutting down while driving.

Dala found that the cell case was touching the chassis in one of the modules, either from crash damage or a dent in the bottom of the pack. This may be just a capacitive voltage effect, but the insulation detector doesn't know the difference.

What kind of cells are used in your car?

Just had exact same problem, told corrosion in pins, yet charges perfectly.
