Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of converting an MGB GT to fully electric.

The basic plan is a netgain warp 9, 60*100AH TS batteries, and a Soliton Jr.

I'm documenting the process here:

So far I've purchased the motor and am in the process of machining a coupling to connect the motor to the flywheel (I'm keeping the original gearbox).

I am wondering what kind of range I am expecting? And how important is weight to range? I can imagine it effects the acceleration (and so requires more energy there), but once at a steady speed the mass of the vehicle shouldn't much effect the range (I think)

Cheers

Range would depend on the speed you are generally travelling at.

But for a small car you can estimate your w/mile at 200-250. 3.2 * 60 * 100 = 19.2 kw.

Which gives you 76.8 miles at 250 w/mile, or at 80% DOD ~60 miles which is ~100 km.

At 170v @ 500 amps you'd make 85 kw (including voltage sag).
