I'm thinking that it might be important to monitor armature temps in the brush area for brushed dc motors. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? I'm wondering if there's a non-contact sensor out there. Thoughts?

(TIA)

Kostov mounts a click switch on the brush holder that fires at some temperature. You could do the same thing with a thermistor.

At this point I'm leaning towards a thermistor mounted on a brush holder; I couldn't find any cheap IR sensors. If you have any info I would appreciate it; some sort of readout is a necessity.
