Hi Duncan
Im new to alot of this so im still learning and seeing whats possible.
I drive about 50km to work each day so id like a range ideally of 120 to 150k but I know I will be pushing to get that.
Performance is probably the hardest one to judge at this stage. My drive to work is almost completely at 100km/h so id like to be able to keep up in traffic.
Budget. Hoping to keep under 20k for all the electrical stuff not including the donor car.

I think at this stage I want to stick with Dc as it seems simpler and I was thinking of putting a dc motor behind a ford toploader gearbox with overdrive as there strong and im sure using the ratios would help.

I was looking at FB1-4001A as a possible dc motor which has a supplier in ozzie. I was looking at the CALB LiFePO4 180 Ah batteries from evwest. 45 of theses in series would give me 144v but I think the range would be touch and go. Id also like to investigate more backyard solutions with forklift motors etc as if I can source cheap 2nd hand stuff locally that will still work why wouldn't I?

I bet thats a longer response than you thought you would get haha.

Cheers

Hi Dan,

I'm in Milton, South Otago so on just over an hour away from you. I've spent the last year building a house for ourselves so I haven't really made a start on my ev journey yet altho I've been doing alot of thinking and planning.

It's good to hear of someone else in NZ looking to do a conversation. Im no expert (unlike Duncan), but I'm happy to help you when I can.

Cheers
