Hi,

I just purchased a 2012 I-Miev pack and am looking to convert sailboat engine to electric. I have an old mercury 110 that I’m going to try and retrofit.

I’m new to lithium batteries and any help getting started with charging, BMS, pack protection, and motor controllers would be very helpful.

Still getting to know my way around the site.

Thank you in advance.

there is a bms availeble for these cells. so you can use the original boards by canbus.
program is for free at github called simpbms by tom de bree.
u can buy a master board for it at several supplyer's or build your own.
i intend to use these cells for my project to.

Thanks Muyen for the info. I read his latest manual v25 and it doesn’t talk about the I-Miev, only the outlander. If you get it up and running, let me know. I have lots of questions.

I’m unclear what the simpbms actually does. I’m trying to understand how the CMU , simpbms, and charger all work together. Do I need to introduce another controller to communicate between charger and simpbms? There is limited information and I’m looking for a step by step. I’m not familiar with CAN, is knowledge of can protocol required?

Thanks
