My whole, feverish EV research phase started when I realized that my truck is a horrible option to drive 40 miles (round trip to college), twice a week. Then, I found this article.
Now I'm hooked, however; I believe my best option is not to go full EV, but to make a hybrid (a parallel if possible). I do a combination of town driving and highway driving, almost daily. So if I could turn some old $3000 sedan with at least 25 MPG into a 40 MPG Toyota Prius, I'd be happy. I'm just in the beginning of my research and I have almost no mechanical knowledge, but I'm willing to learn or outsource the work to someone else, if needed.
I know its a little off-topic for the forum, but if someone could lead me in the right direction, I'm not hard of learning and would appreciate it greatly.

Ellisa is our welcoming committee. We're passing the hat around to pay for remedial English lessons so the forum's management doesn't ding her during her annual performance review.

So, you want to spend two or three years, and several thousand bucks to turn a $3000 sedan into a Prius that you can drive back and forth to the college you graduated from, instead of just buying a used 2008 Prius for $5500?

Honestly, I've looked into the whole thing and moved on. It was really just a research spree and ended non-productive. Thanks for responding, though.
