Hello everyone. My name is Andrew and I'm very interested in learning as much as I can about ev conversion. I'm new to EV's but I've been an auto technician and auto shop general manager for several years.

Ideally I'd like to use a BMW 330e transmission for a conversion but I'm finding it difficult to find any information.

Thank you all and I look forward to learning.

Welcome!

Why specifically this system? Are you converting another BMW?

I just did a quick search for the 330e, and it appears to be a plug-in hybrid with a gas engine, 8-speed automatic transmission, and 113 HP electric motor. Given that combination, it presumably has the usual (for BMW and some other brands) 8HP transmission from ZF, which they purchase from ZF with an electric motor in the front of the transmission for a parallel hybrid configuration. The ZF product page links to a brochure that shows the electrification options (look for "Fully charged: Plug-in hybrid system" in the brochure).

Hi Brian,

Sorry for the delay, I've been away for a bit. I'm taking on the daunting task of creating a DIY hybrid. I have the transmission from a 2017 330e which is the transmission you saw and a gen 3 prius inverter. I've also purchased a Zombieverter from Damien Maguire evbmw.com as well as the transmission controller from HTG Tuning. All components should be arriving this week and the monumental task of putting it all together will begin shortly.
