Question, how well does your Zapi work? Do you have regen setup or turned off. Usually with a standard motor with no interpoles you'd have it turned off. I'd love to have some input. There is one here who may like to have that information.

Zapi works ok on regen on low setting. You can adjust it using a programing console. I think I set it to 2 out of 10. This give me between 5-15amps. This still feels a little more as the original engine braking. Over 15amps it starts arching a bit. bellow 4000rpms is usualy ok.
The thing to avoid is down shifting under regen. I did it once and it jumped the whole car!!. if I just touch the throttle it lifts the regen so I can change gear and also speed the car up down a hill if I need to.

It dosent realy get that warm in England but this summer the controller kept getting too hot, I have installed a 12v fan on the controller casing to keep it happy on slow steep climbes when the motor amps are high.

Good to see you, another UK converter, and welcome to the forum.

Have you been in touch with the Battery Vehicle Society? They are a UK based group looking out for EV interests. Their forum mis a bit slow moving but they do organise events.
There is a chap there looking for volunteers to allow a free installation of a charging point to kick start the UK charging infrastructure.
He runs a tesla.
ETA: Ahh I see you are already registered there.:)

Hi Woodsmith,

Do you have the link for the chap looking for volunteers?

Hi Dave,

Yes, the link is here.

It seems like a good plan that he has. I am considering it myself given I would need an outlet of my own.
Mine would be inside at the house end of the drive though and for public access it would need to be brought out to the pavement area.

I don't think my supply would handle one of his 63A options though unless his sparky was able to help plan a supply upgrade, preferably to 440v three phase.
I may be able to discuss that with him in due course.
