Hi guys,

I wanted to show you our 1967 VW beetle electric conversion. It is powered by a Gen 2 Nissan Leaf motor and inverter controlled by our ECU. The batteries are also Nissan Leaf. We have also made a couple of videos about it. Unfortunately its in German but maybe also interesting for you.

Thanks!

Thanks!

In this case we had to use the original VW gearbox as we are not allowed to do any welding etc. to the suspension due to registration in Germany. If we use newer beetle, I would not use it. Generally the Nissan motor fits perfectly into the engine bay. You can see tht in our other video.
Sorry for my late reply guys!

we are using the original gearbox and are driving in 3rd and 4th gear only. We can thne go up to 150 km/h which is enough in an old beetle. Even her in Germany. We also do not use the clutch anymore and if we want to switch gears we do this while we are at a standstill. But it would be possible to reuse the clutch but I did not see a point for it as we have a enough torque with the Nissan Leaf motor.
