I've been teaching myself how to use GIMP, the open source version of photoshop and I thought I might have a play with Gav's car and some lightning effects for some fun. Here was the result:

Ah. I was thinking of attaching a lightning rod on the roof for free charging... That just reminded me why I shouldn't. Hehehe. :D

Actually I have GIMP too and I once had a play around with it to try and fill up the front bumper on this potential KiwiEV "2":

GIMP is actually pretty powerful, it's a shame I'm so useless and impatient or it could have looked a lot better.

Having used both Gimp and Photoshop, I can safely announce that nobody will ever hire me to use either piece of software. I'm equally, incredibly, incompetent in both apps.

Well, at least it's consistent.

So, is this the thread "Pimp Gav's ride"?

Sorry Gav, just had to try. :D

Hey that's incredible! You changed the colour and all! I'm impressed.
It's not that hard, really. There's actually no rocket science involved at all, just a few simple tricks. You have gimp, see for yourself, I've attached the file. ;)

However, it's usually better to do it on a full scale image (or first scaling up the image) and then scale down the result. The errors gets less visible that way...

I unfortunately had to crop the image to get under the file size limit of mere 97 kB for attachments, but I hope it's still obvious how I did it. Let me know if you want the full size one, it's not very big so I could, for example, e-mail it.
