It looks like they used the original vent frame. Maybe they put stretchy film over the left opening, and filled the bubble with bondo to make a male mold. Then epoxied the back side to make the pocket that the gauges mount into?

Any advice on how to build such a thing? Alternatively, I'm also thinking about an insert that fits in the vent hole rather than modifying the frame. I'm trying to fit my LinkPro in there, and keep it looking professional.

If it's actually plastic as far as I know the only way to do that is with an injection molding machine. Usually when people DIY something like that they'll make them out of fiberglass or carbon fiber.

Hi Eric,
If you look on the Ranger Station forum.. you will find a thread on how a guy reshaped part of his plastic grill. I looked like a similar application. I'll see if I can find it for you....

I decided the vent was too much work, and my heater knob serves no function. LinkPro went where the heater knob used to be.
