I've mentioned this in several other threads: Once you can print base materials, you can construct things cheaper.
A company in Orlando now has
a process to print batteries with a semi-solid electrolyte which can scale to sizes suitable for EVs. Energy density is predicted to be 2-3 times better than current LiIon chemistries.
Holy grail? Too soon to tell; still need to see number of charge cycles etc. but this looks VERY promising.
And, if they start selling them next year or the year after? All of you who poo-poohed my claims that batteries would be here within 5 years may buy the beer...
