Re: [EVDL] CHAdeMO rapid charging station in > Portland

It's 500 volts DC at 200 amps. The charger itself will provide no real regu=
lation. Some of the small pins on the connector are CAN bus communications,=
this is what will provide the control to the off board quick charger.

So in order to use one you will need a CAN enabled BMS so this will make in=
tegration in to conversions difficult if you don't have a relatively sophis=
ticated BMS. The other problem is that no SAE standard instruction set for =
CAN communications has been set to my knowledge, which is a major hindrance=
to the industry right now in my opinion and a question I've ran in to more=
than once.

Still 50KW recharge capability. I'll take it! I am on the list to get a Lea=
f, I should be able to order by Thursday and being part of the EV Project I=
have to get the fast charge port and they have many planned for the Phoeni=
x market so in about a year I'll let you know how it works if I buy the car=
. They are warning that quick charging often will hurt the pack life, espec=
ially in the heat, there is a battery temperature gauge on the dash so they=
are making us aware of this. I plan on leaving an evaporative cooler runni=
ng in my garage where the car is parked during the summer and possibly just=
using the 120vac cord if I can to slow charge it. =
