Here in the greater Phoenix area our electricity suppliers are EV friendly.
They both have EV fleets that began back in the early '70's.
They do offer TOU metering.. on your total electric bill, no seperate
meters or wiring.
I have what is refered to as a "combined advantage rate" which besides TOU
it also charges for a demand rate, (I also have a load controller), while
on peak which is 9-Pm to 9-Am. Nights and weekends are no demand factor and
less than half the on-peak rate. =
This lowers my electric bill a whole bunch if I charge after 9-Pm. The
incentive is that with no demand factor that applies and a lower rate from
9-9, I charge my EV for as low as 2.1 cents per KWH. I plug in when I get
home but don't turn on the charger until after 9-Pm. On weekends I can
charge for 56 hours straight at the lower rate if I want to.
