Obviously, we can kick around the whole "What about
the supertankers bringing the oil?" and "What about
the heating to separate the hydrocarbons into gasoline
in the fractional distillation process?" "oh yeah,
versus the efficiency loss of the electricity sent
over the lines?" as is done on the list all too
often. But for the sake of a down-&-dirty
comparison, it is reasonable to assert that EVs are
more efficient than ICE and say that 300 wh/mi. vs.
1100 wh/mi. means that I'm 72% more efficient. Or,
I'm at least 55 mpg gas equivalent.
