Re: [EVDL] From EV-World - OT - Solar Storms and Electic Cars ??

*Steven, lots of good advice for riding out any storm there except one item.
For water purification, I learned as an RVer to NEVER USE LAUNDRY BLEACH as
a sterilizing or purifying agent. Even Clorox adds Alkali to it to improve
laundry purposes, other brands add perfume and other unwanted ingredients.
Instead save money and use a pure "Sodiumhydrochloride" at twice the
strength called "Swimming pool liquid chlorine !" it is stronger so you are
buying half as much water, and it rinses clear easily so it works far better
in RV water supply tanks. Also is a sterilizing gent, only use half as much
as the recipe recommends and there is no underwear brightening and stain
removing and other useless ingredients, just chlorine and water. [It works
best in swimming pools too, and you won't need as much acid to balance the
PH, it also stings the eyes and nose a lot less too. I have been maintaining
a pool for 30 years.]

Re: [EVDL] From EV-World - OT - Solar Storms and Electic Cars ??

Steve,
I found this to be a good read. It reinforces many of the lessons that I
learned while growing up on the rural peninsula. When we had a power outage,
we could expect it to last for days at the very least. Teaches one to be
prepared, and to never take modern life luxuries for granted. -Tom

Did I miss something? Is this somehow related to EVs? I admit I didn't
read it closely, but I didn't see any reference to EVs in the PDF, just a
lot of FUD. ;-)

Re: [EVDL] From EV-World - OT - Solar Storms and Electic Cars ??

*"For most individuals the primary threat from a massive solar storm is the
potential for creating a widespread long duration electrical power blackout=
."
is in the PDF
.
And since few among us have sufficient PV arrays to charge our EV a blackout
affects the EV.or at least causes charging difficulties.

So it seemed on topic to me. Unfortunately it also stated the use of "Clorox
Bleach" was good for treating the water, And I know that is a falsehood, I
felt it reasonable to correct the report concerning that point.

David, We appreciate the effort you make in trying to keep us on topic, And
I know I can rant more on DIY Electric Car, without your correcting me, but
I like the EVDL better, heck the "DIY Electric Car" likes EVDL so much they
carry it too.
