Thanks! Coming from 'Mr. Kilowatt', that's a high compliment that means
a lot to me.
I am considering swapping-in the lowest gear set we have, the 4:57 gears
from the 2005 season, to see what we can do this coming weekend. Summer
is supposed to return from mid-week through the weekend with 80's and
sunshine. With a strong hole shot again (1.58-1.59 expected), I think an
11.7-something is possible even considering that WZ is pushing 2700 lbs.
with the 844 lb. lead acid Enersys pack and the extra 100 lbs. of roll cage.
Dream mode on......It's fun to think ahead to 2008, where with possible
sponsorship, there could be a 2250 lb. 500 hp White Zombie roaming the
streets and the track with twin lithium packs (200 lbs. + 200 lbs.),
twin Zilla Z2Ks (yes, I have two of them), no series-parallel shifting,
and a full 2000 amps on each motor section pretty much all the way down
the track with no power interruption. If this happens, the rear quarter
panels would be cut free from their fender well arches, bowed-out
several inches, then new arched steel sections would be welded into the
inner wheel arches to make room for 10 inch wide drag slicks. A new 4
link in back is already in the planning stages. Appropriately, wheelie
bars would be part of the changes. I imagine such a machine would have a
1.4-something 60 ft. hole shot and that it would run low 10s or possibly
high 9s and still have a 100 mile range per charge, too!
See Ya.....John 'Plasma Boy' Wayland
