Re: [EVDL] problems Electro Automotive

George, I wish you good luck.
I sent my ELCOM charger, that never worked correctly, back for 2nd time in
March 2010 (purchased in March '09). I emailed them about every two to three
weeks. The last email I got from Shari was "I thought it had been taken
care of. I'm checking into it." That was Aug 3rd. I have email them twice
since and not heard a peep. I assumed they had gone under because of the
poor customer service.

Electro Automotive after buying one of their kits

Good morning George, I am so sorry to hear of, yet another victim of EO. I
am sorry to say I deleted all numbers I had for them to not remember how
terrible they treat their customers. I just found Bill Lentfer's number.
Try 831-251-8656. Try calling without using Caller ID. Here it is
something like *69. Not sure what it would be in AK? He was hired to be
the go to guy for EO. I to waiting endlessly for parts that would come
only to be machined incorrectly. Some parts three times. If they have gone
under, it would be of at least one problem, mismanagement. They care for
you until they receive money from you and then it is a long time before you
get product. And some of the product is the cheapest crap I have ever seen.
i.e. the multimeter straight from Harbor Freight for $4. I still have stuff
I can't use and for the beginner one does not know what you need or not.
Good luck with Bill's number.

I read many reports on the internet about the misgivings of EO and to be
careful of their dealings. I wanted an Azure system and they are the only
player in the US. Which is too bad for Azure. I know I would go elsewhere
to get their system if to do it over again. So you are not the only one at
least from the past. My advice is to be vigilant and do so with tenancy.

anymore, and my email inquiries rarely get a reply. Way back in the summer
of 2009, when i started working on my VW Rabbit conversion the Electro
Automotive responses took a few days---but they did respond. And the parts
did continue to come in. But by the end of 2009, things were beginning to go
downhill. Many of the machined parts that i received were incorrectly
machined---including the main adapter plate. Many of the mounting plates had
incorrectly placed holes. And still no controller.

was readily available.

middle of their Electro Automotive conversion waiting for parts and for word
from them?

Re: [EVDL] problems Electro Automotive

My experiences with ElectroAutomotive have always been good. They can be slow,
expect thats due to a backlog of orders.
Bill.

Re: [EVDL] problems Electro Automotive

Hi George,

I also had an absolutely miserable experience with EA. It took four months to get the motor, 10 months to get the charger and I never have gotten the DC/DC converter after 14 months. I reported them to the BBB - they never responded and now have a "D" rating, which is better than they deserve. There is not a company with worse customer service. I cringe every time I see that Mike Brown is out teaching conversion classes, knowing that many of his students will pick EA and get burned.

To get my charger, I sent them a registered letter via USPS with return receipt, threatening legal action (which I was prepared to follow through on).

Like you, I polled the forums for others with bad experiences with EA. I got four(!) responses, all with the same story of money paid but products not received, no answers to phone calls, etc. This is mail order fraud, plain and simple, and the principals should be in jail.

I fear it's lawsuit time for you. EA is not out of business; at least they weren't four weeks ago. But I sure hope they are soon.

Can you tell I'm a little bitter?
Richard
