Re: [EVDL] Re Leaf-Test ON NPR Radio - mis-information

Allow me to add my 2 cents worth on "Range Anxiety".

I've been driving a PHEV Prius for one year and drive almost exclusively
with the EFI fuse removed which makes it impossible for the engine to
start. So, I'm essentially driving an EV.

What the lay gas-guzzler driver doesn't understand is that every single
morning when I back out of my garage, I have a full electron tank. No
gas-guzzler driver can say that. Other than when you want to drive to
Florida, you're daily commute is always covered. So, you can't possibly
have any anxiety about that.

BTW, don't forget about our free "EV Fest", Toronto's premier Electric &
Hybrid Vehicle Fall Festival, on Sunday, October 17th at
Toyota-On-the-Park, 1077 Leslie St @ Eglinton in Toronto. You'll see all
kinds of Plug-In Hybrids and Electric Vehicles, both from major
manufacturers as well as conversions and hobbyists. Please register the
whole family for free tickets on the EV Fest website (www.EVFest.ca) and
drop by for a free BBQ and say "Hi" on Sunday.

I think it could have been a little more positive, but a reporters job
is to stay objective. This is exactly how a non-EV-enthusiast would
perceive this car. Range anxiety is a very real obstacle to the electric
car. Most people will buy it as their second car. However, I think long
term experience would prove that it becomes their FIRST car, and the ICE
becomes their second car. Also, as more and more charge stations become
reality, range anxiety will become less and less of a factor.

Re: [EVDL] Re Leaf-Test ON NPR Radio - mis-information

It has long been my experience when dealing with the media that once you
have completed the interview, that your input is complete. No call backs to
confirm questions, or chances to add pertinent details that occur to you
after the interview. The information given is their property to twist and
interpret how they see fit.
The one exception happened during the filming of an episode for Canada
Discovery Channel. The process took 3 days and there were several taped
interviews that the crew reviewed and came back for more details on several
points. Very refreshing, but out of the norm!
