that come from? I think the data indicates the opposite. For example
Toyota's Prius sales have been strongly increasing for years. Other than
Honda, what other manufacturers have even offered a hybrid vehicle for sale
for the last several years? You wouldn't expect "broad acceptance" of a new
technology very quickly. You could have said the same thing about PCs.

The specific article was about Ford and GM hybrids and the Toyota and Honda
are seldom vehicle suppliers for the US Govt. Fleets.
Not to be argumentative but that was the content of article being discussed.

Dennis,
The fact that the article made a broad-sweeping statement
about "a technology that has failed to win broad acceptance"
This is clearly not about Ford or GM but a stab at Hybrids
in general.
Since the article started with narrow focus on Ford and GM
then it may be interpreted that from standpoint of *US*
automakers the Hybrid technology has failed, but that
qualification was not added to the broad sweep...
Therefor, it is false.
