I am designing an utility vehicle for light works on a farm. What I have in mind is a two wheel drive articulated EV. Each front wheel will be driven by a 5 HP 3-phase induction motor.
It will be powered by a 72 V battery pack and, according to my elementary calculations, the nominal phase voltage and phase current will be about 50 V rms and 55 A rms (assuming a power factor of 0.8).
Now I need help to select a suitable controller for each motor. I am thinking on a Curtis 1232E 622X rated for 80 V, 80 A rms (60 min) and 175 A rms (2 minutes),x| but I don't know if there are other considerations that should be taken into account regarding the current.
I will appreciate any help.
