I'm using a Rec-BMS on a 12s Chevy Volt battery pack and a Sunny Island inverter for my off-grid solar.

Can two different devices (BMS and Inverter) share the same 50mv shunt? Or do I have to have two different shunts?

Both devices have inputs for shunt measurements.

Thank you,

Yes, long as both let you calibrate against a known-accurate ammeter.

Better of course is a CANbus network or similar common signaling scheme.

The Rec-BMS uses a CANbus that is compatible with the Sunny Island inverter, but I don't know if it reports current data from the Shunt.
