Whatever is the most dishonest and deceitful interpretation of the Tesla Motors actions is probably correct. Their response certainly looks like bull to me.
I doubt it. NTSB's investigation will take time, and they will not likely rush to release anything just because Tesla's marketing machine is squawking. Tesla has just excluded itself from learning anything - unless it involves a safety risk requiring immediate action - so although they might say more, it won't likely include any real information about the collision. As for the removal of Tesla Motors as a party to the investigation: both sides have made their statements, so nothing more is required. Tesla devotees will believe Tesla Motors, rational people will believe the NTSB, and both will go on happily.I think in the upcoming few days we will know more about this.
