Prepping the truck for 2023 adventures! I'm going to be doing several events and car shows etc this year taking the EV80 all over the country.

This weekend I will be going to Lafayette Cars & Coffee tomorrow and Old Gang Ice Racing Fun Day on Georgetown Lake on Sunday. I'm doing the Rising Sun Snow Run the following week. And in March I am taking the EV80 to Matt's Offroad Adventures Wrecker Olympics in Hurricane, UT! Cruise Moab and possibly Lone Star Roundup as well. And that's just the start, it should be just as busy all year!

Took it Ice Racing yesterday! Had a blast even though I finished dead last lol. During the morning practice runs I was feeling confident and the truck was good I even beat a couple people but later on for the races it warmed up and the ice got even more slick and I had nothin. The truck just understeered. I got some pretty nice fully electric drifts across the ice on video I think though!

Spent some time driving around historic Georgetown after the races.

I assume that this was a solo event (one vehicle as a time). I did that for several years, decades ago, as well as marshalling at regular ice races.

If I recall correctly, this Land Cruiser has the original transfer case. There were at least three different transfer cases offered (in various markets) in the FZJ80, and I don't recall if the details of this one were mentioned earlier in the thread; does it have a centre differential, or a viscous coupling for one axle, or is it just part-time (RWD or 4WD with front and rear output speeds locked together)? Without difference between front and rear axle speeds allowed, the vehicle will understeer badly on slick ice, and it would be faster in RWD.

It was actually a heads-up race, two competitors line up on the same track facing opposite directions at the halfway point and race around one lap back to their starting position. It's actually really fun and gets through the heats quickly.

My truck has a center lockable differential but for the race I kept it unlocked. I had a lot of things working against me, mostly rock crawling tires that are known to be not great on snow and ice. Also with the EV conversion the truck is very nose-heavy, way more than it was originally.

This group only allows 4WD or AWD vehicles to race. It's just their rules. Anyway I meant to sign up just for the Fun Day non competitive part but clicked the wrong button online and ended up in a race.

Have you weighed the car to see where all the weight is distributed now? Curious about your front rear and side to side weight ratios.
No, I've just weighed it before and after but not corner-weigh. I can tell by how the suspension sits that it's way front-heavy. Steel bumper + winch are a big part of it. That's actually good for rock crawling, bad for most everything else.

CDL switch finally installed and wired up. I was just hot wiring it with stripped wires before...which didn't work very well so this is much nicer!

Wired it in with two relays I found in a box by the side of the road. The LED only comes on when the diff is actually locked as I included both of the stock limit switches in the circuit. So if the light is on, the driver knows it's fully locked up.

Just plain had too much fun yesterday! I went to hang out with the TFL Offroad crew and I took my EV Land Cruiser through Andre's Pit challenge. It was a complete mud bog and now my truck is absolutely filthy! Nothing stopped the EV80 from making it through every obstacle. The full TFL youtube video should be out soon!

Real World Testing ;)

I Love It :)
Yep! I built the truck to use it and actually see how EV 4x4 works. Turns out it's awesome. So far I'm totally in love with my truck everything about it is amazing... except the range. I really need more batteries. I think that's my next upgrade but I'm not sure exactly how I'll be going about it.
